DeFuniak Springs, Florida emerged in the 1880s as a railroad stop, and is located in Walton County between Pensacola and Tallahassee. This town reflects a look of Old Florida, with many historical buildings and landmarks. It has the oldest library in Florida still serving the public, the retro Hotel DeFuniak, the Chautauqua Winery, and a lovely collection of Victorian homes that encircle the nearly symmetrical spring-fed Lake DeFuniak – one of only two such naturally circular bodies of water in the world. (Switzerland has the other one.)
