Our Local Area

DeFuniak Springs is part of Historical Florida

DeFuniak Springs, Florida is located in Walton County between Pensacola and Tallahassee and emerged in the 1880s as a railroad stop. This town reflects a look of Old Florida, with many historical buildings and landmarks. It has the oldest library in Florida that is still serving the public, the retro Hotel DeFuniak, the Chautauqua Winery, and a lovely collection of Victorian homes that encircle the nearly symmetrical spring-fed Lake DeFuniak – one of only two such naturally circular bodies of water in the world. (Switzerland has the other one.)

Enjoy historical Florida and the local conveniences to Twin Lakes Camp Resort – the Campground and RV Park your family will enjoy. Our Cabin Suites are themed after 5 of the historical buildings in downtown DeFuniak Springs. There are 280 buildings listed on the National Historical Register. Enjoy your stay in “The Chautauqua”, “The Library”, “The Victorian”, “The Depot”, or “The Steeple” Suites as you learn more about this beautiful southern town.
